Simple Life

During my recent visits, I got a chance to socialize at greater extent. The vacation was supposed to be a break from hectic schedule and work; instead it turned out to be other way round for which I was not ready. I came across many elderly individuals, who were wise and kind enough to share their experience with me.

Below are the words of wisdom which I am sure, I will try my best to implement once I am back to my senses.
  1. A definition of Happiness depends on mind. If your mind is at peace you are happy.
  2. Hope that things would be fine in future and have confidence that if you have any problems you would be capable enough to tackle it wisely and calm headedly.
  3. “Sthitaprajna” – Be a man of steady Wisdom.
  4. There are two situations where we tend to make mistakes. When we are extremely happy or extremely sad. Never get too excited about anything.
  5. Never let your past affect your present and future. That reminded me of master Uguay quote “Yesterday is History, Tomorrow is Mystery, Today is a Gift, That’s why it’s called the present”.
  6. It’s never too late to admit that you have committed mistake. Just accept it and repent for it.
  7. Avoid misunderstanding, be straight forward.

Final suggestion from all of them was “Get Married SOOOON :)”.

Hope For The Best And Plan For The Worst

There is very thin line between hoping for best and living in fantasy, planning for worst and thinking negatively. This applies to every situation, every decision we make and the way we live our life.

Life is not always as what we expect and it continues to surprise us every time we take a decision to change it. So the best way is not to try controlling it and just live with the flow. We all expect only the good out of our life, but the very existence of good relies on bad. Over the period of time, it is so difficult to differentiate between good and bad that you end up doing your routine without thinking much.

Well, that’s one way to live. There’s another approach - we can hope for the best and plan for the worst. I am sure every one of us always hopes for the best; however, only a few actually plan for the worst. Every decision we take are based on the best we might achieve, which is a good thing. One should be positive. However, we miss on important worst that might happen to us and more, can change our life.

There are few things in life which cannot be undone once it happens, but we should be prepared for it and should be able to handle that well by giving our 100%. The art of planning for the worst can only be achieved by perfect practice. Again, there is a very thin line between planning for the worst and thinking negatively. And that line should be distinct so that we don’t end up as a negative thinker at the end of the day.
